This Cookies Policy explains how HoverReel LLC ("HoverReel," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). Read it with our Privacy Policy.
It covers three places:
- The HoverReel dashboard (app.hoverreel.com), used by Merchants, the businesses using HoverReel, and their teams.
- HoverReel video Players on Merchants' websites. These are seen by Visitors, the people visiting those websites. The Player runs on the Merchant's website, not on a HoverReel domain.
- Our website, hoverreel.com. It's the only place we use an analytics service.
1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?
Cookies are small pieces of text a website saves in your browser and reads back later. localStorage and sessionStorage work in a similar way:
localStorageitems stay until they're cleared.sessionStorageitems go away when you close the tab.
This policy covers all of them.
2. What We Use
None of the items below are used for advertising. None are shared with ad networks, and none track you across unrelated websites.
2.1 The HoverReel dashboard

All of these are set by HoverReel itself. Outside Shopify admin, the dashboard has no third-party cookies, analytics or trackers. Inside Shopify admin, the dashboard runs inside Shopify's page and loads Shopify's App Bridge script from cdn.shopify.com. Shopify's own cookies and policies apply there.
2.2 HoverReel Players on Merchants' websites
The Player sets no cookies. It uses browser storage on the Merchant's website. Nothing it stores contains a Visitor's name, email address or anything else that identifies them.

Consent on Merchants' websites. The visitor ID helps measure viewing. Some places, including the EU and the UK, require a website to ask Visitors before storing it. Each Merchant decides how to handle that on their own website, usually through their cookie banner. The Player follows that answer: on a Shopify store using Shopify's consent tools, or on any website whose banner tells the Player (see our Help Center), it stores nothing listed above, except the store's own cart-quantity after an add to cart, until the Visitor agrees. Until then, videos still play and viewing is still counted, using an ID that exists only for that page view and is never stored. A Merchant without a banner of their own can turn on HoverReel's consent bar: Visitors whose browser is set to a European time zone are asked whether the Player may remember their device, and nothing above is stored until they allow it.

About Google Analytics on hoverreel.com:
- We use it only to understand how people find and use our website.
- Google's advertising features ("Google signals" and Google Ads links) are turned off.
- Data is kept for 14 months.
- It waits for your choice, wherever you are. Until you click Accept, and if you click Deny, Google Analytics runs with analytics storage turned off: it doesn't set the
_gacookies and only sends limited, cookieless measurements. - If you accept and later change your choice to Deny, nothing more is sent to Google Analytics. A cookie already set stays in your browser, unused, until you clear it or it expires.
- See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Other services on hoverreel.com that set no cookies:
- Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts.
- Our pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which protects the website from attacks.
Like any website request, these services receive your IP address and browser details.
3. What We Don't Use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies of our own, and no ad pixels on hoverreel.com or in the dashboard.
- The Player loads no analytics tools. If a Merchant turns on "Send video events to your own analytics", the Player passes video events to the analytics tools already on that Merchant's website (see our Privacy Policy, Section 3).
- No cookies that follow you between unrelated websites.
- No selling or sharing of cookie data with data brokers or advertisers.
4. Code the Player May Load From Elsewhere
When needed, the Player loads two small open-source libraries from public code servers:
- hls.js, from
cdn.jsdelivr.net, in browsers that can't play our streaming format on their own. - gif.js, from
cdnjs.cloudflare.com, only if a Visitor uses the share feature to make an animated preview.
Both are pinned to an exact version and checked with Subresource Integrity before they run. Neither sets cookies, but loading them is a request to that server.
Videos play from our video provider, or from wherever the Merchant's linked video is hosted.
5. Merchants' Stores (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce)
When a Visitor uses Add to Cart or the size and color picker, the Player talks directly to the Merchant's own store from the Visitor's browser. The store may set or update its own cart cookies as part of that. Those cookies belong to the store and its platform and are covered by their policies, not by HoverReel's. On BigCommerce stores, the Player sends HoverReel the ID of the store's own cart with an add-to-cart, so the Merchant can see which orders their videos helped sell; HoverReel keeps only a one-way scrambled version of it, and nothing is added to your browser for this.
6. How to Control Cookies and Storage
- Browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies and website data, for all websites or one at a time.
- Dashboard: without
connect.sidyou can't stay signed in. Withouthr_device, every sign-in looks like a new browser, so you'll get a sign-in alert email each time. - Merchants' websites: clearing the Player's storage doesn't break anything. Videos still play, and the visitor ID starts fresh, so a view might be counted again.
- hoverreel.com: click Deny in the cookie banner, or change your choice at any time with the Manage consent tab at the bottom of any page. You can also block cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out browser add-on. The website works the same either way.
7. Changes to This Policy
We'll update this policy when what we store in your browser changes, and post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date.
